“Texelgruppe” nature park

The “Texelgruppe” sanctuary around the Passiria Valley is one of the best-known natural reserves. The guest ought not to miss the opportunity to visit the sanctuary during a stay at St. Martin.

Extending over a surface of some 33,000 hectares, it is the largest natural reserve of South Tyrol. The visitor can explore there almost every vegetation form which can be found in South Tyrol: Alpine woodlands, gentle mountain prairies and arid rocky areas with waterfalls and glaciers.

The fauna living in this habitat is also interesting. Hardly anywhere else in South Tyrol, animals can be observed so closely as the “Texelgruppe” natural reserve. The visitor encounters here, for example, golden eagles, marmots and ibexes.
