Motorcycles in and around St. Martin
Motorcyclists also feel very much at home in South Tyrol and especially in motorcycle hotels such as the Garni Birkenau. The Garni Birkenau offers a lockable motorcycle garage for your motorcycles. Of course, there is also a program for motorcycle-free days, which you are welcome to take part in.
“Timmelsjoch” and “Jaufenpass” are two passes that are particularly popular with motorcyclists. The “Timmelsjoch” is a pass between Austria and Italy at an altitude of around 2,500 meters. The high Alpine road with its countless hairpin bends is not only popular with bikers, but also with racing cyclists.
In the high season, you will encounter countless bikers on the “Jaufenpass”. The summit stretch over the “Jaufenpass” is around 31 kilometers long and has a very special scenic charm. While you have a view of the Ă–tztal Alps to the north, you can see the Sarntal Alps to the south. The “Jaufenpass” tour is one of the most popular motorcycle tours in South Tyrol, as it not only offers an impressive natural backdrop and countless sharp bends, but also many places to stop for refreshments. The tour starts in the medieval town of “Sterzing”; from here, you head up to the “Penserjoch”, the highest point of the tour at 2,211 meters. The route then passes through the provincial capital of South Tyrol, Bolzano, as well as Merano and St. Leonhard.
The Garni Birkenau offers an ideal starting point for your motorcycle tour. From St. Martin you can reach countless other winding Alpine passes in one day. We will be happy to answer any further questions you may have at any time. Simply use our contact form or call us on 0039 0473 641233.
